Magee Gammon- Roland Parry

The Beginning
Magee Gammon was formed by Jon Gammon and Brendan Magee in July 1992. Both Jon and Brendan were previously partners in the Kent wide firm of Spain Brothers & Co. They felt they could do things a little differently to the traditional model for accounting firms that was prevalent at the time.

The firm opened offices in North Street, Ashford with just 4 members in the team, but quickly established a reputation for quality service and advice in the town and further afield in Kent.


The Middle

By 1998 Magee Gammon had grown to a total team of twelve people, including two senior managers – Antony Tutt and Mark Britland. On 1st January 1998 Antony and Mark were made partners.

The promotion of Antony and Mark led to a further significant spurt of growth for the firm, with many new clients from a diverse range of businesses transferring their affairs into the care of the firm. Sadly, in early 2001, it became apparent that Brendan Magee’s health would not allow him to continue in his existing role. Consequently he retired in June 2001.

Brendan’s retirement was the catalyst for a restructuring of the firm into two current legal entities – Magee Gammon Corporate Limited and Magee Gammon Partnership LLP.


The Present
Although it took a couple of years for Magee Gammon to recover from the loss of Brendan’s skills, there has been consistent double digit growth every year since 2002.

2008 has been another important period in Magee Gammon's history, with the promotion of Abhi Jain and Roland Parry to Members of the LLP and the move to new purpose converted offices on Henwood. We expect the move will give us a platform for continuing to provide what we consider to be a first class service over the long term.

The team now totals 27, including four Chartered Accountants and three Chartered Certified Accountants, together with a number of key individuals with specialist skills.

The present client list encompasses a wide range of commercial clients from primary industries, through manufacturing, retail and service businesses. Many of our clients are well known names in the business community in Ashford and throughout Kent. We also have a strong private client base and act for many trusts. Our tax and business advisory skills are very highly respected by the local professional community, who regularly refer work to us.
